Javier García is a Colombian TV producer who followed the World March from his city Bogotá to Punta de Vacas, Argentina, along with a group of marchers known as the Viajer@s por la Paz. At the time he was shooting a documentary about the initiative. He shared the following testimonio after attending a WM rally for binational cooperation at the Colombia-Ecuador border (Transcription and English translation below):

“Muy buenas, mi nombre es Javier García, soy Bogotano, Colombiano, productor de televisión. Me uní a la Marcha pues por intereses económicos en un principio. Me interesaba trabajar en algo que estuviera de acuerdo con lo que yo hago, y la Marcha reune, recogía, todas las expecttativas que tenía en ese momento. Y pues, bueno, hasta el momento me ha ido muy bien, he disfrutado mucho. Estoy comenzando el viaje hasta el momento, pero está muy interesante. Y la Marcha y el mundo, pues yo creo que, soy soñador, creo en las utopias, y ante todo esto es una utopia que se puede volver realidad. Se vuelve realidad en cada momento que damos un paso más adelante, que cojemos un bus, que nos acercamos hacia el final. Y me permite de alguna manera conocer más gente, gente que está de acuerdo con el pensamiento y la forma de vida que llevo, que es un pensamiento obviamente de noviolencia, no agresiones, no conflicto. Y me ha permitido que toda la- pues todos los sueños como que se vean más reflejados y se vean más reales. Eso ha hecho que el mundo llegue más cerca [de ellos], por medio de la Marcha. Entonces pues, me interesa y quiero seguir promoviendo esta iniciativa global. Pues con mi trabajo y pensamiento voy a aportar y desarrollar lo que tanto deseo y pienso, para que esta realidad no sea una [solo] utopía finalmente para el mundo. Aunque sé que no se va a resolver con una Marcha, pero creo que va a poder permitir que nos reconozcamos más, y que entendamos realmente más que la noviolencia es un camino posible y que la violencia debe ser borrada de nuestras mentes, de nuestros recuerdos, para aportar de alguna manera a un mundo con menos guerras, un mundo de verdad que sienta una conciencia social y que permita desarrollar la- bueno, un sueño realmente. Sé que eso es una utopía porque finalmente la violencia- mientras haya violencia económica, racial, sexual, pues va a ser difícil que lo consigamos pero de alguna manera estamos diciéndole al mundo que se puede si uno lo desea, y eso ya es una realidad.”

“Hello, mi name is Javier García, I am from Bogotá Colombia, and a TV producer. I joined the Marcha well, due to economic interests, at first. I was interested in working on something that was in agreement with what I do, and the March brings together, gathered, all the expectations that I had at that moment. And well, so far it has gone well for me, I have enjoyed it very much. So far I am starting the trip, but it is very interesting. And the March and the world, well I believe- I am a dreamer. I believe in utopias, and above everything this is a utopia that can become reality. It becomes reality every time we take a step forward, that we catch a bus, that we get closer to the end. And it allows me in a way to meet more people, people who agree with the thought and kind of life I carry out, which is a thought obviously of nonviolence, no aggressions, no conflict. And it has allowed to- well, for all the dreams to kind of be reflected and look more real. This has made the world to reach closer [to them], through the March. So well, I am interested in this and I want to continue promoting this global initiative. Well, with my work and thought I will contribute and develop that which I desire and think, so that in the end this reality may not be [just] a utopia for the world. While I know that this will not be resolved through a march, I believe it will allow us to recognize each other more and to really understand more that nonviolence is a possible path and that violence must be erased from our minds and our memories, to contribute in any way to a world with less wars, a world that truly feels a social consciousness and allows to develop, well, a dream really. I know that it is a utopia because in the end violence –as long as there is economic, racial sexual, violence, it will be difficult to achieve, but in some way we are telling the world that it is possible if one desires it, and that is already a reality.”
